Do you ever feel "called" to visit a particular place?

When we went up to New England, I actually got excited about going to
Bar Harbor, Maine, and Mystic Harbor, Connecticut. I don't know--I
just felt right about going to those places and some day, I'd really
like to go to Salem, Massachusetts--just because!

But when we went out west to visit the kids, I didn't get that
excitement feeling about the mountains and all. I did when we went on
the train but not when we drove......even when we drove through the
dessert.

I must be a tree person!!

I wonder if it has something to do with your history classes back in your
school days, Diane. I always love to go to places I've read about and I
remember more history from the Revolutionary days in the east, than from any
other time in US history.

Good thinking! I'll bet you're right!! I know when we were south, I
kept seeing these places from the Civil Warn and then I went crazy
trying to remember what happened there!!! I wish with all my heart that
I had paid more attention in history class.

I never felt drawn toward an area but I'll never forget driving through
Donner's Pass. I had done some research on the Donner Party and had
read parts of actual diaries that some of them had kept. It was very
difficult reading because of the old English that was used but in my
mind I was picturing what was described. It was so awful and then I saw
it again during the ride.
